Dear Parents
We have been carefully monitoring the COVID infection rates and are now of the opinion that it is safe to open the school on a reduced operational level with a risk-adjusted differentiated strategy which allows us to implement the school operation to safely manage our teaching and learning program at this time.
We will at all times place the health and safety of our learners above all else at the school.
The President spoke recently to the nation and made reference to the 3 C’s which are largely responsible for the spread of the virus. These are crowded places, close contact and confined spaces. Schools have the potential to face all three of these situations and so our operation has to ensure we can avoid them.
This means we have to limit the numbers we have at school at any time and also limit the numbers that we have in any venue at any one time, whilst at the same time delivering effective teaching and learning to make sure our students can progress through the school system.
Please note only pupils with diagnosed co-morbidities may continue with the online only program. Parents need to confirm this with the school in writing with supporting documentation.
For the weeks 8 February to 19 February we will run the school as follows after which we will review the situation and adjust accordingly
- Grade 9C, 10, 11 and 12 will attend school every day as per usual.
- Foundation Phase (Grades1 to 3) and ECD (Grades RR and Grade R) will attend school every day as per usual.
- All other Grades (4 to 9) will have classes split into two groups – blue and red
- Each group will attend school on alternate days.

Students in Grade 4 to 9 who are not at school due to the rotation will be given work to complete at home or online. It is therefore essential that students in both Primary and High School have access to a device that will support online interaction. A Wi-Fi capable tablet would be a minimum requirement but smart phones may suffice.
Please note. The school is open. We have a massive task ahead of us to complete the academic year. All students must attend school when required to be here.
I remind you that we were able to run a very successful online program during last year’s shutdown and were able support the progression of almost all our learners into their next respective grade. This program has been greatly improved and will continue to support our high standard of teaching and learning. We are in a position to build on this success and ensure that your child/children receives a quality education in a safe and secure environment.
As always stay safe and stay healthy.
