Newsletter 23 April 2021

Dear Parents and friends

Term two is now fully operational and the school is a hive of activity. I do understand that the adjusted school times have had an impact on the general fatigue levels of some learners in the High School but I believe that with time they will adjust. The Foundation Phase and Primary School are both functioning exceptionally well and with time, we will move towards more ”normality” in the school operation.

Our extra mural program which includes sport, culture and drama will begin after the long weekend and we are looking forward to seeing the sports field back in action and our debaters, and drama enthusiasts back in action along with our archery leaners. The sports field has had a makeover and is ready for the winter action.

On the school finances front, we have had to take a harder stance on school fee defaulters but this has had a positive effect on the fee collection. I would like to sincerely thank the ladies in the finance office for their hard work and also thank those parents who make their school fee payments regularly and on time.

Today we handed over the Matric jackets to the class of 2021. They look splendid and will give our Matric group a sense of identity. A big thanks to Mrs Ameer for her efforts in ensuring that we are able to hand over the jackets.

Not to be left out, the Foundation Phase held their Career Day Dress up day today and the learners were quite resplendent in their outfits and must be complimented (or perhaps the parents need the compliments?) on the effort put onto making a success of the day. Well done to you all.

Please be reminded that the term 2 assessment series starts from 3 May. The assessment timetable is available on the website at: https://mecschool.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/Term-2-2021-Assessment-schedule.pdf

Food for thought

Enjoy the long weekend and stay safe

Brian
