Dear Parents, Friends and Staff
It’s hard to believe that we are already well into the end of the second week of term two. I am happy to report that things are running smoothly and that we have a clear focus on our learner’s well-being and academic progress. This week we have celebrated science week with several activities involving learners and teachers. I would like to thank Mrs. Du Plessis and Mrs. Verster on this initiative. Certainly, the learners have really enjoyed themselves with the sharing of obscure scientific facts, scientific jokes, and some interesting experiments out on the lawn.
Next week is a short week as Thursday and Friday and the following Monday are holidays. I remind you that Wednesday is a school day, and we will be running a full academic program.
Saturday is an important day in the Muslim calendar with the celebration of Eid. May the blessings of Allah fill you with happiness, peace, and prosperity. On this auspicious occasion of Eid, may all your prayers be answered and all your good deeds be rewarded. Eid Mubarak!
Please Note
On Monday next week, we will be meeting with Matric parents and primary school parents as well as ECD and foundation phase parents. On Tuesday we will be meeting with the Grade 8 to 11 parents. Invitations had been sent to parents other than Matric parents who are requested to attend to discuss the progress of their child/ children. All Matric parents are requested to attend and discuss individual progress with respective teachers.
This term promises to be a very busy term with several sporting and cultural activities planned and we look forward to the full involvement of our learners and where possible the support of our parents. We will also be writing the normal June exams at the end of the term. Modern day education seeks to develop the whole child and looks to not only academic progress but indeed pays attention to the social emotional and mental welfare of our learners which requires that they are exposed to physical activity whenever possible.
Also note that to compensate for the many public holidays and to ensure that we have a full term of teaching, the reports will only be issued in the first week of term three. This will give us an extra two weeks of teaching time.
On Monday we celebrated science week with a virtual reality experience of the ocean or the dinosaurs for the learners. This was a great initiative and thoroughly enjoyed by all.
Staff and learners really entered into the spirit of the science week with a dress up day.
The Foundation Phase and ECD held a dress up day to celebrate World Book Day. There was fantastic support for this by learners and staff.
I am happy to share that we have purchased new netball outfits for our primary school and high school teams. The girls have been hard at work preparing for the upcoming fixtures as have the soccer teams.
We have also received wonderful sponsorship for netball uniforms for the Foundation Phase teams. I would like to extend a huge thanks to Mr. Malose Tolo and Gamahlako Logistics for their very generous sponsorship.
We have been approached by the local hardware company EH Hassim to encourage people to participate in a fun run on the 6th of May. Proceeds of this fun run will be used to assist needy communities in the Greater Mokopane area.
Ahead of the short week coming up, I would would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a safe and peaceful midterm break and hope that our learners return well rested and ready to face the challenges that lie ahead.
Food for thought
Warmest Regards
