Start of term 3.

The term began with the excited expectation of a full and busy term ahead. Mrs du Plessis Is away on maternity leave but we have managed to cover her teaching responsibilities quite effectively through several internal rearrangements. (I am currently teaching. The Grade 8. Geography and history classes and find it both refreshing and enjoyable to be back in the classroom again.)

Issue of reports.

To maximise teaching time in term 2, we explored the possibility of issuing reports in the first week of term 3. This initiative was partially successful, but in reflection we will return. To issuing reports at the end of each term.

Parent interview meetings.

Following the issue of the term 2 reports. We held three very successful parent interview evenings. I would like to thank those parents who attended the evening, and we look forward to ongoing communication between you and ourselves to improve academic performances of all learners. The education process is essentially a three part operation involving the school, the parents and the learners. It is most effective when all three parts are working together positively.

Grade 12 Prelim examinations

Grade 12 class begin their prelim examinations next week. We would like to wish them all the best for the efforts in these assessments.

Grade 9 subject choices meeting.

Please note. That the grade 9 subject Choice meeting will take place on Tuesday 23 August. This is an important item on our calendar and it is imperative that all Grade 9 parents and learners attend in order to understand the process and the criteria for subject choices.

Extramural programme.

We are engaged in a busy extramural programme including, archery, netball, soccer, and debate. We encourage our learners to take a balanced view of the education programme offered by the school which, supports both academic and extramural contributions.

Bosveld Kunstefees

Several our learners from across all three schools participated. In the Festival this week. The results are of a very high standard, and I would like to congratulate the learners who participated and the staff for preparing them to present to the judges. It is most encouraging to hear that not only with the presentations of a high standard, but the learner behaviour before and after the competitions was exemplary . Well done to all those who took part.

Top five achievers.

It was a great privilege to handout the certificates. For the top five achievers in each Grade for terms one and term two. I would like to congratulate. All those learners who have excelled and encourage the other learners to try harder to achieve higher academic goals.

Archery tournament.

We recently hosted an inter schools’ archery tournament, which was successfully.  A Number of schools from the province participated.  The day Was enjoyed by all and our thanks must go to Mrs Lombard, who was the organiser of this event, and congratulations to the archers who participated.

Applications and registrations for 2023.

Please be aware that on Tuesday, 23 August, we will be distributing notices to parents to advise us if there is an intention to remove their children at the end of 2022.  It is necessary for our planning process and budget preparation to have a clear indication of our enrolment for 2023. We have already received a significant number of new applications and therefore, it is important that in order to secure a place for your child/children that you return the forms in time.

As always. Enjoy the weekend and stay safe.
