Dear Parents, Friends and Staff
Level 2 and the way forward for the school
I have consulted with colleagues who are in a similar situation to us regarding a strategy going forward for the school from here on. Despite there being little information available for schools (and other businesses) at this stage, the crux of the matter is that there won’t be too much change right now. Experts agree that even though the levels of recovery are improving, the disease is still here and still having the potential to spread. As such we need to, because we have 484 children and 49 staff members, continue with what we are doing. This will probably be until next term and likely to extend until the end of the year.
So, what does change? For now, there will be little change. However as more and more learners are returning to school the effort of the teachers being put into the online teaching is becoming less and less cost effective. It is likely that from the start of term 4 we will down scale the online teaching to online support.
Reminder
Please remember that our formal examinations start on 3 September and will be hosted at school for all learners.
Newsletter distribution
As the majority of our parents use WhatsApp as a communication platform we will be moving from email distribution to this platform going forward from this week. A link to the newsletter will be circulated on WhatsApp. Newsletters will still be added to the website for ongoing reference.
New ways of doing old business
The Covid monster has made it necessary to relook at how we deliver our educational service to you the parent. The 2020 year book will be an online production and hosted on the website. We will be asking various people for electronic contributions over the coming weeks. We are also looking at an appropriate way to bid farewell to our Matrics as the formal matric farewell fell victim to the Covid shutdown. There have been some really attractive suggestions and we are looking at hosting an event that will be safe yet memorable. Watch this space.
VERY IMPORTANT Registrations 2021
Please note that we are currently experiencing a high demand for enrollments for 2021. This will mean that leaners who are not promoted at the end 2020 will have to reapply.
Parents with accounts in arrears will also have to reapply for their children.
Food for thought
Martina Navratilova was once asked, “How do you maintain your focus, physique and sharp game even at the age of 43?”
She gave a humble reply, “The ball doesn’t know how old I am”. You need to stop yourself from stopping yourself. Every game in life is actually played on a 6-inch ground – the space between your two ears. We don’t live in bungalows, duplexes, or flats. We live in our mind which is an unlimited area. Life is great when things are sorted and uncluttered there. Keeping the mind messy with hatred growing on the table, regrets piling up in the corner, expectations boiling in the kitchen, secrets stuffed under the carpet, and worries littered everywhere ruin this real home.
The key factor to performing well in life and in every arena is the ability to control the quality and quantity of your “internal dialogue”. Performance is potential minus internal interference. Live in peace, not in pieces.
Stafe safe and have a good weekend
