Dear Parents Staff and Friends

This newsletter brings us to the end of a very busy first term. Without doubt the time has flown past with dramatic speed.  We have been reviewing our return to a more normal process and in this light have made some adjustments to our teaching and learning focus particularly for the high school in term 2.

Academic Focus

As a staff, we have made collective decisions to elevate our academic program and to set new standards of achievement for our learners. This will mean that more time will be spent on teaching and assessment as well as formal interactions with parents of underperforming learners,  based on performance reviews.

High School adjustments

  • The high school will have two formal test sessions every week on Tuesday and Thursday
  • Lesson times will end at 2.20 pm
  • Extra mural commitments will run from 2.30
  • The creation and appointment of a senior staff member to attend to
    • Pupil welfare
    • Director of Academic achievement
    • Academic Coordinator
    • Implementation of higher pass mark requirement for English home language and Mathematics

High School and Primary School

  • Formal meetings with parents of underperforming learners
  • Return to June Examinations
  • Times for the ECD, Foundation Phase and Primary School remain unchanged

Important Notices

  • The primary school will be attending the Jubaweni Camp next term. This promises to be a wonderful experience for them.

Extra Mural

As we continue with our return to a more normal operation we will be implementing a full extramural programme.in term 2. The  following activities will be on offer.

  1. Netball.
  2. Soccer.
  3. Archery.
  4. Drama.
  5. Debate.
  6. Mini Cricket. This will be available for Primary school learners only.
  7. Cycling. (We have been invited to join a cycling club in Mokopane. Please see the enclosed leaflet for high school learners for this)

Upgrades.

We have undertaken a number of upgrades to the various campuses this term.. We have installed a large covered area at the foundation phase to provide much needed shade to the learners who wait for their transport in the afternoon.

We will, in the coming months be upgrading the IT facilities, by redoing our internal network and we will,  weather permitting,  be upgrading the Netball court during the holiday.

Staffing.

Sadly, we will be saying goodbye to Mrs. Lubbe who will be leaving us to take up a very well earned retirement. She has been with the school for the last 12 years and has done sterling work in the accounts department. We will miss her friendly smile and her delightful personality and wish her everything of the best as she takes up a very well deserved rest.

Covid 5th wave

There remains a significant amount of uncertainty regarding a possible 5th wave of the Corona virus. Should the situation reach a threatening stage, be assured that we do have the required interventions in place should restrictions be implemented with regard to school attendance.

I remind you that school reopens on 4 April and look forward to seeing all our learners, return well rested, and ready to take up the challenges of the second term.

Warmest regards

Brian.
