I start this newsletter with an inspirational quote. “The greatest danger in times of turbulence is not the turbulence – it is to act with yesterday’s logic.” – Peter Drucker. Without doubt very relevant to us all in these challenging times.
Examinations update
Examinations continue to go ahead smoothly. Early results from the Grades 4 to 11 would indicate a marked improvement from the September examinations in some cases as much as 20%. It is my sense that this applies to the Grade 12 Matric exams but we will have to wait for the final results to know this.

Thoughts on 2021 Part II
As 2020 draws to a close we have to look to the future with hope and optimism and knowing that are only chance of sustainability and success is to embrace change and to develop new ways of teaching. Gone are the days when all you needed was to be a “walking text book” to achieve academic success. The world today needs people who critical thinkers, are capable of collaboration, creativity, communication, have character and are involved citizens. This demands a new and progressive approach to teaching and learning and a journey we must now begin.
Certainly a cautious approach may be required but a new direction and new methods of teaching and learning are more relevant now than ever before. To this end we will be embarking on a program not only to restructure management and operational roles in 2021 but to restructure the teaching and learning program in Grades 6 to 9.
Diwali
Diwali, one of the most auspicious Hindu festivals, celebrates the victory of good over evil. People celebrate the Festival of Lights by bursting firecrackers, gorging on sweets and exchanging gifts with family and friends. To all our Hindu pupils, parents and grandparents, we wish you all the best on Saturday as you celebrate Diwali!

Have a great weekend.
